Janelle Renee Jenkins

Career

One enterprise. Without centralizing every decision.

I read the balance sheet and the room.

My work connects operating discipline, shared responsibility, and respect for local judgment across departments, campuses, and communities.

How I work: I find where work stalls, build agreements with the people affected, make decisions and tradeoffs clear, and develop others through curiosity, care, and clear expectations.

Breadth of responsibility

People, governance, and the work between functions.

Board partnership & risk

CEO and board engagement, strategic priorities, decision rights, financial oversight, and cross-functional risk management.

Leadership & employee experience

Competency-based hiring and development, onboarding, manager support, performance expectations, and the conditions that shape retention and transitions.

Equity in daily operations

Translating values into resource decisions, access, service expectations, and practices. My work has included transportation equity and financial learning for staff.

Owned budgets up to $300 million and contributed to a $20 billion private-label card portfolio. Team figures describe cross-functional leadership, not necessarily direct reports.

Selected work

Examples of my work in practice.

Selected outcomes and operating approaches, summarized without sharing proprietary work products.

Decision rights that respect local authority

Across a federation of more than fifty chapters, I clarified decision rights across seven departments and negotiated the national and chapter boundary. Shared operating agreements preserved local authority while reducing unnecessary escalation to the CEO.

Change built with the people affected

Across six school campuses in two states, transportation redesign began with backup capacity before school leaders were asked to share fleets. The change returned $567,000 annually while improving utilization and attendance.

Accountability under external scrutiny

My experience includes federal bank examination readiness through the 2008 financial crisis, labor relations in a 3,000-employee plant, and student safety across six campuses. I connect controls to the people responsible for making them work.
